How do you align round picture frames?

Posted by on Apr 21, 2013

Sara has asked a good question about using Eazy Hanger to align round picture frames.

Here is my recommendation.

Mark Top and Bottom centres on back of picture.

Place picture such that the two centre marks are at 90° to alignment jig (click to read my Eazy Hanger jig instructions).

Find a parallel spacer wide enough to move the top of the Eazy Hanger fully onto the picture.

Glue or screw fix Eazy Hanger.

Will the Eazy Hanger work on screw together aluminium frames?

Rosemary asks whether Eazy Hanger plays nicely with screw-together aluminium frames.

Put a thin bead of Eazy Glue, in the centre of both top rails, then push the Eazy Hanger down onto the top of the picture.

Any surplus glue can be wiped off with a damp cloth.

Can I use the Eazy Hanger for wall hangings?

Jo-Anne asked: Can I use the Eazy Hanger for wall hangings.

The answer is, Yes.

Insert a flat piece of timber into the pocket at the top and screw fix an Eazy hanger through the fabric into the timber.

Before tightening the screws insert a 25mm to 30mm wide x 100mm long, thin (less than 1mm) piece of metal or rigid plastic, between the Eazy Hanger and fabric.

This stops the wall hanging rotating off the wall.

Had to squeeze Eazy Glue a lot before any came out

Michael asks whether it is normal that he had to squeeze his Eazy Glue quite a lot before any glue came out.

The answer is, Yes.

To make it easier to use, our glue tubes are deliberately oversized.

Why will the Eazy Hanger only hang up to 18 kgs?

Tom asks why the Eazy Hanger only hangs up to 18 kgs?

The answer is simple, it is for safety reasons.

I’ve been around this game long enough to know that if you are planning to hang anything heavier than 18kg, I urge you to get help from a tradesperson.

Why do pictures hang crooked on a plaster wall with timber frame?

Emma has a great question to launch Grandad’s Tips.

She says she has glued her Eazy Hanger to a plaster wall and screwed them into a timber frame. They are all perfectly level but her picture still hangs crooked. What can she do?

In my experience, Emma, you will find the wall has a hollow to the side the picture is hanging lower.

Moving the red spacer towards this corner will cure the problem.
